Product Review: Anjolee Milgrain Diamond Eternity Band

Longer ago than I’d like to admit, I was given the opportunity to review product from jewelry brand, Anjolee. I was given the option to chose the piece and knew immediately I wanted the Milgrain Diamond Eternity Band, because I’ve been dropping hints for another band probably since my one year wedding anniversary.

The band was bigger than I anticipated, but that may also be because I’m used to my thin pave ring. The detail of the ring is very minor, and dainty, with little indentations surrounding each diamond, which gives it just enough pizazz to bring to your hand.

Since it’s an eternity band, you can wear it many ways: alone, with your engagement ring, or all three together! Check out what it looks like on and let me know what your favorite style is!

Wedding Wednesday | My Fourth Wedding Anniversary

I know it’s cliche, but it feels like yesterday that Steve and I were exchanging vows in front of our family and friends. I vividly remember the entire day, and how calm (seriously) I was. I made a million memories to last a lifetime! My favorite, though, was our first look.

From the very beginning of wedding planning, I was completely against seeing Steve before walking down that aisle. He wanted to enjoy cocktail hour, and I just wanted to keep with tradition. The further we got into planning, and the more photographers we met with, taking a first look photo began to seem like the better option.

I’m really glad I ended up caving, because the moment made for a great batch of pictures to look back on. We were laughing the entire time I was walking towards him, and you can see the fun we were having together. Certainly a great moment to reflect on today!

WAGS Review | Premieres on E! August 18th

I was recently given the opportunity to see an advance premiere of E!’s new show WAGS, which will premiere August 18th at 10pm ET.  For those who don’t know, WAGS stands for “Wives and Girlfriends of Sports Stars.”

This new one-hour, eight episode series gives viewers a front row seat to the real competition, taking audiences on a wild ride into the world of some of today’s hottest professional athletes from the perspective of the women who stand by their side, WAGS. These WAGS are playing the most competitive sport out there: getting and keeping that pro-athlete man. As part of an elite, exclusive group, the WAGS are close friends who are bound together by a strict hierarchy, unspoken rules and plenty of drama – and those who have the coveted ring and a husband with a contract are the ones with all the power! As in sports, this game is all about getting that “W” and this pack knows how to play the field!

The main theme that kept popping up in the premiere episode was cheating. These WAGS, who mind you are gorgeous, are not blind to the fact that, and I quote, “If your man’s not having sex, he’ll get it somewhere else.” It’s unfortunate to hear right off the bat that the athlete stereotype is true, and it gets the best of them – and we have front row seats to the show.

Something surprising that also is a major storyline is the hierarchy of it all. Wives are at the top of the totem pole, while girlfriends are at the bottom, and are treated poorly by the wives and fiancés. As a woman, I hate to see when women who should really band together cut each other down. But, I must say, it makes for great television!

Meet the women:

Sasha Gates

Sasha is the queen WAG of the group, married to a 5-time All Pro Player from the San Diego Chargers who has a multi-million dollar contract. She was featured in music videos until she met her husband, but now she’s a doting wife and mother to a little girl with another one on the way. However, Sasha still has her own interests as she starts looking into a music career. She also has a children’s clothing line called Wittle Ones, with best friend/business partner Autumn Aijrotutu, which features cute football clothes for kids.

Autumn Ajirotutu

Autumn met Seyi Ajirotutu of the Philadelphia Eagles in college, and the two are now married with twin girls. After leaving the San Diego Chargers, Seyi recently signed with the Eagles and now Autumn is faced with having to decide whether to uproot her family and turn her life upside down to move to Philly. Autumn has always loved to party and is finding it difficult at times to transition from that life to being a new mom.

Barbie Blank

Barbie is engaged to Sheldon Souray (most recently of the Anaheim Ducks) and the two are actively planning their January 2016 wedding in Cabo! Barbie is a former WWE Diva known as “Kelly Kelly,” who made her debut at only 19 years old. She performed from 2006-2012, which included being the Diva’s Champion in 2011. As a former athlete herself, she’s not a “typical” WAG, but with the pending wedding, Barbie is very excited to move up the hierarchy chain and legitimize her WAG status.

Ashley North

Ashley North is a WAGS descendant (her father was a Major League Baseball player who played for the SF Giants, Oakland A’s and Chicago Cubs), who gets a lot of great advice from her dad on how to navigate this competitive world, including an emphatic warning not to date athletes! However, Ashley chose not to heed his advice – she has been with Dashon Goldson of the Washington Redskins for over 11 years and the two have a young daughter together named Charly. They have been engaged for a year, but Dashon’s hesitation with locking in a wedding date is a serious cause for concern. Outside of her “roles” as a WAG and mother, Ashley is trying to balance her own career as a celebrity stylist whose clients have included Kevin Hart, Justin Bieber and J Cole among others.

Nicole Williams

Nicole has been dating Larry English of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four years now, and she is ready for that ring! She is a gorgeous, successful working model who is always on the road traveling for jobs, having modeled for Old Navy, Gucci, La Senza, Macy’s and more – she was even tapped to appear in Robin Thicke’s “Treats” video. While she prides herself with having her own life, Nicole tries to keep Larry on a short leash as she struggles with the “jersey chasers” who follow these NFL players everywhere they go!

Natalie Halcro and Olivia Pierson

Natalie and Olivia are gorgeous, cousins and best friends who launched a beauty and fashion blog together that proved to be so successful, they are taking it to the next level – but mixing family and business is always a challenge! Natalie’s boyfriend is Shaun Phillips who has played for the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. They have been together for 2 1/2 years and while Shaun is looking to take things to the next level, Natalie is very independent and has to figure out how to balance this relationship with her own career plans, especially now that she has reached “Instafame” with a million Instagram followers! Olivia is single and a hopeless romantic, but will only date athletes. She has been linked to players from the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Clippers!

Age-Shaming Women Without Children

I’ve always had an issue with people asking me when I’m having children. I find it not only to be an extremely personal question, but invasive. What happens when you ask someone this question who has been trying for years to get pregnant? What if you’re asking someone who just miscarried? Or someone who just had their third failed round of artificial insemination?  I can think of a myriad of other reasons, but I think I made myself clear.

I know we can’t control people, and there will always be people who are going to ask, but there’s certainly a tactful way to do it, and “age-shaming” is not the way to go about it. Exhibit A:

Screen Shot 2015-04-20 at 10.59.48 AM

I came home to this post on a Facebook pic of mine from one of my husband’s aunts (for those wondering, Kate’s my MIL).

When I saw this, I think my jaw dropped all the way through the earth to China. I was fuming…FUMING…I still kinda am. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I knew better than to respond because no good would come from that, so I thought I would just sleep it off.

But I didn’t. I woke up yesterday for my morning run, and it was all I could think about. The phrase, “Kate’s not getting any younger, and neither are you two” kept running through my mind. She not only brought my age into it, but my mother-in-law’s, which I had no idea could impact my pregnancy.

The age at which someone chooses to get pregnant, if at all, is a personal choice, and likely something said person has already taken into consideration. Frankly, I find it unacceptable and disgusting to insert unwanted opinions into such a personal life-decision, which is unique to everyone.

Morning, Laurie.

Guys…I’m Back…And I Got Jokes!

Wow – what a hiatus! I don’t even have anything interesting to report on. Just super-busy at work, so much so, that I’ve been bringing it home on the weekends. The only interesting thing really happening is that I started running again – I’ll be doing the Oakley Women’s 10k in June, and thought it sounded like fun (I may be a masochist) to run a half marathon on my birthday in October. Now that’s how you celebrate thirty-fuckin’-two!

I thought of a good post yesterday, which is why I’m returning today. I love my husband to pieces, and even after almost four years of marriage and almost five years of cohab, I still can’t get over how gross it is to live with boys. I grew up an only child, and my dad is a pretty prim-and-propper man, so I never had to deal with the toilet seat up, snot rockets or loud hacking sounds on a daily basis. I thought I’d defy all only-children stereotypes, and share with you my life with him on a daily basis:

When I think I smell my husband’s fart:

When I ask him if he farted:

That moment he realizes he needs to talk to me after he just shoveled food in his mouth:

My face after he hocks and spits in public:

And my face when he shoots a snot rocket in public:

When he burps over me speaking:

When I realize even though he’s gross I’m the luckiest girl in the world:

Morning, Laurie.

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

I just called my husband with the perfect idea for a Valentine’s Day gift: Tickets to NBA All-Star Saturday Night. It’s something we’ve talked about doing for as long as I’ve known him, and though tickets are super-expensive, I thought now would be the best time in our lives to drop this kinda of cash because, A) It’s right here in NYC, B) We don’t have a mortgage to worry about just yet, and C) No kids and all the expenses that come with it. Both B and C will likely change soon, so I thought, Carpe Diem! But my financially responsible husband shut it down, which got me thinking about last-minute gifts. Yikes!  I gave it some thought and came up with my top three:

Dollar Shave Club Membership:

There’s no doubt about it, dudes are obsessive when it comes to their razors and what they are shaving their faces with. What better way to show you understand their neuroses than to buy into it…Literally!  Pick out a razor, choose some additional products, and like magic it will appear at his door step every month!

Amazon Instant Video Gift Card

Let’s be honest, sometimes Netflix just doesn’t cut it, and your S.O. is too cheap to rent anything online since you already pay for Netflix. Put his mind at ease and get an Amazon Instant Video Gift Card so you guys can watch what you want, when you want.

Dinner

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so why not take him to that restaurant he’s been dying to try but never had the opportunity to go?  Valentine’s Day is the perfect holiday to do that!

Honorable Mention: Massage

It’s a little “cheap” since you’re not purchasing anything, but giving massages is hard work, and at no real benefit to you. It’s a great way to show your man you care about him without breaking the banks, and of course spending quality time together!
