Wedding Wednesday | My Fourth Wedding Anniversary

I know it’s cliche, but it feels like yesterday that Steve and I were exchanging vows in front of our family and friends. I vividly remember the entire day, and how calm (seriously) I was. I made a million memories to last a lifetime! My favorite, though, was our first look.

From the very beginning of wedding planning, I was completely against seeing Steve before walking down that aisle. He wanted to enjoy cocktail hour, and I just wanted to keep with tradition. The further we got into planning, and the more photographers we met with, taking a first look photo began to seem like the better option.

I’m really glad I ended up caving, because the moment made for a great batch of pictures to look back on. We were laughing the entire time I was walking towards him, and you can see the fun we were having together. Certainly a great moment to reflect on today!

Lauren Manzo’s Bridal Veil

Reality star, Lauren Manzo, daughter of Bravo’s Real Housewives of New Jersey alum, Caroline Manzo, and star of Manzo’d With Children, got hitched this weekend to her longtime love Vito Scalia, and her bridal look was to die for!

I’m not a fan of a traditional bridal veil. I think it is very easy for it to look 80’s tacky, but if done right, it can solidify a bridal look and make for a show-stopping and memorable look; and Manzo nailed it:

Her cathedral length veil had such intricate detail that perfectly complimented her more simple ball gown.  What a stunning bride!

Her veil inspired me to share a few other veils that I think are beautiful and top off a bridal look, and not surprisingly, are all cathedral length:

Bridesmaid Dress Stigma

Girls, you’ve all been there – Your bestie calls you up squealing in tongues that she’s engaged and that she wants you to be a part of her big day. You’re thrilled, honored and excited, until the day you go bridesmaid dress shopping.

I had this conversation with a friend last night who’s in a wedding this summer. She looks at me with disgust and says, “She wants us to wear a Tiffany’s blue satin dress in the middle of summer, with BLACK shoes!” While none of that sounds at all appealing to me (I mean, black shoes are totally going to stunt their legs), it does make me laugh that I have this conversation with a handful of friends several times a year, and while bridesmaid dresses are statistically unflattering, there are still websites like Style Me Pretty that showcase the most gorgeous of gowns.

Has anyone ever been actually excited to wear a bridesmaid dress? When I was working from home last week, there was a Sex and The City marathon on E! and the episode where Charlotte announces she and Harry are engaged aired. The excitement in the girls’ faces when Charlotte announced that she was not having bridesmaids was relatable, as was the moment when Charlotte said she changed her mind.  But when Charlotte said they can wear their own dresses, all was right in the world again.

Based on popular opinion it seems as though having your gals pick their own dress seems to make them the happiest. Better get on your mix and match game, gals, it takes a really good eye to make it work!

Engagement Season!

With Christmas just days away, and New Year’s a week away, it is safe to say that engagement season is in full swing!

A few years ago I went with Steve, his cousin and her son to go ice skating at Rockefeller Center. We must have waited on line in the freezing cold for two hours. I remember one of the sessions ending, and everyone was clearing the ice, except for one man, who was down on one knee in front of New York City to propose to his girlfriend. It was so amazing to see – I thought this is what Christmas in New York is about!  As time passed, and we were still on line, and even when we finally were ice skating, the number of men dropping to their knees exponentially increased.  The thrill for me wore off, but never-the-less, it’s really magical to see couples embracing the season.

With engagement season underway, I rounded up some of my favorite styles of engagement rings!

Let’s start with a traditional princess cut solitaire. I’m partial to this since it’s exactly what I have:

I love a good cushion cut with a pave band that really adds a touch of elegance:

I go back and forth on the halo look.  I think if it’s really done right, it’s super classy, like this one. Personally, if the halo is too thick, I think it looks a bit cheap:

Lastly, there’s something about a double band that I adore:

Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Marie’s Wedding Pictures

Another day, another wedding reveal! In today’s edition, Vanderpump Rules star, Scheana Marie, who married Mike Shay over the weekend. Hope she doesn’t take his last name!

Scheana opted for a non-traditional two-piece wedding gown, which sounds worse than it really is. It is soft, feminine, with beautiful beading on the top piece, and lace on the bottom piece, which leads to a gorgeous train.

I love a bride that thinks outside the box and makes a bold fashion choice. It is your wedding day, the most photographed day of your life, and it should be fashionable! In my opinion, being a bit daring, but still remaining true to your personal style is a great way to go. Congrats to the newlyweds!
