Let’s Get HappiSnappi!

One of the many fun parts of being a mommy to a little girl is dressing her up!  In addition to the frills and tutus, there are headbands. Mommies, you know what I’m talking about – the headbands with the big flowers. There’s a part of me that finds them a little obnoxious, and then there’s a part of me that loves them!  A brand that allows for you to flex your creative muscles, and keep the obnoxious to a minimum is HappiSnappi!

With a simple snap, young girls can choose from a wide variety of snap-on/off floral embellishments that easily attach to the brand’s headbands, knit hats, necklaces, hair clips, and more. Every item has the same snaps, so you can mix and match embellishments with every piece, making the fashion possibilities endless.

The brand isn’t just mix and match – it gives back! The company, created by child therapist Karlee Ohm and her nine-year-old daughter Peyton, donates one hat to a children’s hospital for every hat purchased. Additionally, the mommy/daughter duo teamed up with Sadie Keller, a brave and courageous 9-year-old who is fighting leukemia. In an effort to find a cure by bringing attention to the issue and donating proceeds to her cause, HappiSnappi will donate 50% of online sales to the Sadie Keller Foundation for the remainder of the year.

With the holidays just around the corner, this is a great gift for that special little girl in your life, with the added bonus of having proceeds go to charity. Prices range from $3.50 to $22.50.

iPops! Customize Your Fitbits and Apple Watches

Apple Watches and FitBits allow for you to express your fashion sense in very limited ways – color and choosing the face of your Apple Watch. While that is fine for most of us, I know there are some people out there who would prefer to express themselves one step further. iPops allows for you to do just that!

iPops was founded by Lucy Simones – a wife and mother of three – who was interested in making her watch a little more custom to herself. While she loved her watch, she realized she was wearing less and less of her other wrist accessories like charm bracelets, and thought of iPops as a way to bring together the best of both worlds!

iPops is currently hosting a Kickstarter campaign to continue to fund the charms. Head over there now to donate as it ends today!
The charms are $7 each, and also come in various packs that start at $12.99.
I have an ice cream cone charm that I slipped into my purple FitBit, which fits like a glove! I’ve worn it to many yoga and spin classes, and lived to tell about it.  iPops is definitely a fun product that can give your watch and FitBit that extra flair!

12th Annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest

Cheap Chic Weddings and Charmin teamed up again for the twelfth annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, which launched this past Monday, and runs through May 15th!

Remember that time you won the toilet paper wedding gown contest and cousin Jen’s bridal shower? These dresses are nothing like that!

Think you’ve got the chops? Here’s how to enter:

First: Plan your design.

Second: Grab some Charmin Toilet Paper (Ultra Strong, Ultra Soft or Basic), tape, glue and/or needle and thread (that’s all you can use)! To help offset the cost of designing these memorable creations; Charmin is providing coupons by request at TPDresscontest@gmail.com

Third: Make the dress and headpiece on your model or mannequin and take some clear, unaltered digital photos (front, back and side). The dress must be able to be worn by a human!

For the first time ever, the finale event will be broadcast live across multiple online channels. Top ten entries will be chosen then online voting will be open to the public.

The top ten dresses and their designers will be flown to New York City to participate in a live fashion show finale event on Haven Rooftop at the Sanctuary Hotel in New York City on June 16, 2016 where the top three winners will be chosen.

At the Finale Event, the dress entries will be judged by members of Cheap Chic Weddings, Charmin, Edward Meyer of Ripley’s Believe it or Not, The Sanctuary’s Hank Freid, and celebrity guest judge Mikie Russo, event planner to the stars and member of the OK! TV Entertaining Team.

Good luck!

Share Confidence On International Women’s Day

It’s no secret that women love to dress themselves in dark colors. It’s slimming and chic. But did you know there is actual proof that dark colors boost confidence?

Last year, a survey of over 1,000 people was taken about colors they associate with various qualities such as attractiveness, intelligence, and confidence. Black was ranked as either number one or two in all positive qualities. Additionally, men and women alike find the opposite sex most attractive in the color.

Today, on International Women’s Day, Woolite wants to #ShareConfidence with this touching video of women being photographed and feeling confident in their dark clothes. With social media and the internet constantly boasting pics of over-photoshopped women, it’s so easy for women to feel insecure, and this video is not only refreshing to see women exuding confidence, but also how these women want to share their confidence with other women.

Oscars 2016: My Favorite Red Carpet Looks

Last night awards season came to a close with the Academy Awards. It was a big night all around – Leo finally won his Oscar, Chris Rock delivered a smart and hilarious monologue. But of course, several of Hollywood’s leading ladies stole the show with their red carpet looks. Here are my faves!

Jennifer Lawrence

This might be one of Jennifer Lawrence’s most daring red carpet looks to date, and I love it!  This plunging neckline on her Dior Haute Couture gown, with the textured black bottom is a great mix of sexy and elegance.

Saoirse Ronan

Emerald is a rarity on the red carpet, and Saoirse Ronan nailed it in this Calvin Klein stunner!

Brie Larson

The best actress winner (and star of my favorite film this year) looked elegant in this Gucci number. I love how she didn’t go overboard on the jewelry since the belt is a statement piece in and of itself!

Cate Blanchett

This woman can do no wrong, and proves it yet again in this textured Armani Privé gown!

Jennifer Jason Leigh

This gown has all the makings of my dream dress: pale pink, texture and flowers! Thank you Marchesa for this beauty!

Rooney Mara

This sleek, lace, cutout gown by Givenchy Haute Couture couldn’t look better on anyone else!

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts is the prettiest mermaid I ever did see in this Armani Privé gown!

Priyanka Chopra

This Zuhair Murad gown is so romantic! It could double as a wedding gown for a daring bride!

I Think I Popped

Today I had to button my pants with a hair tie:

20160218_082614

As of today, I’m 16 weeks and 3 days pregnant, and just beginning to grow out of my size zeros. I’m on a mission to stay out of maternity clothes as long as possible, and this is doing the trick…for now!

I know I’m going to get bigger as the months fly by, but am somehow convinced maternity wear won’t be a necessity. I just went on a shopping trip to Express (which I’ll share with you soon) to get larger blouses and and stretch pants for the upcoming spring months. Summer on the other hand, is going to be tricky I think. I’m already planning on wearing breathable, flowy dresses to get me through the humid NYC weather. Baby’s due August 1st, so at least I won’t be commuting in the worst summer month. Did I mention my commute has me transferring in Times Square? I’m not looking forward to that!

If anyone has any fashion tips for preggos at every stage, this future mommy blogger would love to hear them!
